Presidential candidate

The question arises in Indian political circles that who would be the next president after Abdul Kalam. Several options are opened up. A.B.Vajpayee, Bironsing shekavat, Narayanamurthy and Somnath chatterjee, Pranab Mukerjee are some of the names that are under consideration. Eventhough the President of India has no unique powers comparable to that of USA, the post is very vital in the context of no singular party in majority at the centre.

Moreover the President should be one who should be model in the public life with an impeccable character in public life in consonance with the constitution of India. The constitution underlines the need for secularism and socialisam besides democracy. The candidate chosen for this highest post should keep these basic principles very high.
